FAQ’s

No. At Barkley & Co., we intentionally keep our daycare, boarding, and Adventure Club programs small to ensure every dog receives the personalized care, attention, and enrichment they deserve.
Most dogs can be accommodated for walks and drop-in visits. However, dogs interested in daycare, boarding, or Adventure Club must first complete a meet & greet and behavioral evaluation. This allows us to assess compatibility with our resident dogs, Jeffery and Lulu, as well as other pack members.
Thoughtful introductions, careful matching, and limited enrollment help us maintain the safe, harmonious environment that Barkley & Co. is known for.

Absolutely, and they're required for all new clients, at no cost to you!
For Walks, Drop-Ins, and Adventure Club, I'll come to your home so we can meet, discuss your pet's routine, and ensure everyone is comfortable before services begin.
For Daycare and Boarding, meet & greets take place at my home. This gives you an opportunity to see the space, ask questions, and most importantly, allows your dog to meet our resident dogs, Jeffery and Lulu. Thoughtful introductions and evaluations help ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive experience for everyone in the pack.
Meet & greets are one of the most important parts of the Barkley & Co. process and help us build the trust, safety, and compatibility that make personalized care possible.

Does your dog have neighborhood friends they love to play, walk, and explore with? Barkley & Co. is looking to create small, carefully matched Adventure Club packs made up of 3-4 dogs from the same neighborhood or social circle.
On Adventure Day, I'll pick up each pup, secure them safely in my vehicle, and head out to a local forest preserve, trail, or dog-friendly nature space for an hour of hiking, sniffing, exploration, and enrichment. Along the way, we'll enjoy water breaks, plenty of opportunities to investigate the world at canine speed, and even a pup cup on the ride home (with your approval, of course!).
At the end of the adventure, your dog will be returned home safe, happy, enriched, and ready for a well-earned nap.

While formal crate training isn't required, dogs should be comfortable spending time in a crate if needed.
At Barkley & Co., new boarding and daycare guests are typically crated during brief periods when no one is home or a play break is needed. This allows us to ensure everyone is getting along well, prevents unwanted mischief, and gives us time to learn each dog's comfort level, habits, and house manners.
As dogs become familiar with our home and demonstrate safe, respectful behavior, we may adjust their privileges accordingly. Our goal is always to provide the safest, most comfortable experience possible for every member of the pack.
Safety first. Freedom earned. Plenty of love either way.
